From Ideas to Successful Business Owners
The
supported structure for the establishment of businesses in Vorarlberg
– shortened UGP – is an offer of the Vorarlberg Job Market
Service (German: AMS) for job seekers who want to become independent
business entrepreneurs. Through targeted personal consultation,
entrepreneurs can prepare for their future functions as business owners
and find the support they need in founding their company or business.
The
flexible model consists of three phases, in which all frequently
and initially asked questions are clarified directly and individually in
just a single consultation. UGP begins with a pre-clarification
of the feasibility of the new enterprise. If the chances of the business
idea are estimated as viable, the establishment of the business is
supported in one-on-one consultations. During this time the
acquisition of unemployment benefits (founder aid) is provided. Follow-up
assistance in the starting phases is also possible.
The
consulting activities of UGP are free and financed by the AMS
Vorarlberg. Further information about UGP and advanced promotion
possibilities for women can be found directly at the regional offices
of the AMS in Bregenz, Dornbirn, Feldkirch and Bludenz or at Merlin.
For
over 10 years, we have been working in the consultation and guidance of
young entrepreneurs and those interested in establishing their own
businesses, and in this time we have supported over 700 people at the
beginning of their freelance careers.
The process of founding a
business can be described as a complex and relatively long decision-making
process. Measures of process control must therefore possess a structured
effect for reducing the complexities and also consider specific start-up
conditions and requirements.
The goal must be about mobilizing
support and promoting access to resources. While starting the business,
the transformation of establishment readiness to establishment abilities
is strongly attended to during consultation, and entrepreneurial readiness
is converted into entrepreneurial ability. Above all, recognition of
barriers and the promotion of appropriate relationship management belong
to the stages of business establishment.
From these experiences, we
have developed a practise-orientated
manual (only available in German) which shows creative
heads how to take a business idea and convert it into fact and how to
build a network, so that young entrepreneurs can use their synergies.

behalf of the AMS
